My overall experience at northeast Lakeview has been overall pretty solid. I’ve met some students here and there who are really nice, but I’ve also met some students who have made me uncomfortable. But what can you do! Most of my teachers are also exceptionally good, except for the two English teachers that I had both in my fall and spring semester. Both teachers were different people, but both teachers were very weird about their teachings and oddly strict. My first teacher wouldn’t let us use electronics in class, so we had to write all of our essays on paper and then turn it into her at the end of class. Definitely one of my worst class experiences ever. And my second teacher also didn’t let us have electronics, we were only allowed to use the school computers. They were nice enough, and didn’t discriminate against anyone but it was just the principal of it all. Overall, my experience has been pretty well. Everyone is helpful and kind.

During my two years at NLC, I have found many of the staff to be unhelpful and even rude at times. I had a meeting with my academic advisor during the second semester of my freshmen year and I was met with criticism due to the fact that I was unaware of how to plan out my courses. I was taken aback because my guidance counselor was supposed to guide me, not belittle me. However, my guidance counselor for my current year as a sophom*ore has been nothing but kind and helpful. She was there to answer all my questions and offered guidance! I wish they would hire on more helpful individuals such as herself.

My experience at this school is based on a dual credit program that I am a part of, I attend Judson Early College Academy and I go to Northeast for my college classes. I am currently a senior in high school and a sophom*ore in college and I enjoy my life at NLC because it opened me up to the college scene and taught me how to be responsible, and self-reliant, and how to work through high school easier. Northeast Lakeview is also a very comfortable place to study, and I enjoy the many opportunities they give students to help make sure that we get all the help we need.
