Is the Audi R8 LMS a GT3 car? ›

As the GT3 version, the Audi R8 LMS is the top product in the programme from Audi Sport customer racing.

Audi unveiled the latest version of their R8 LMS GT3 racecar for the 2022 season, which is already available for private teams to order with a price of €429,000 ($505,005) plus VAT.

Coming to the engine specs, the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II comes with a 5.2-liter, V-10 engine that is capable of making up to 585 horses and over 406 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential performance gearbox.

The R8's racing history began in 2009, when Audi Sport made the racing version of its sports coupé for private teams in the GT3 category of the Le Mans Series. The car has much in common with the road version, except for all the safety systems needed to comply with FIA regulations.

The German manufacturer will also stop production of all its customer racing cars, including the GT3 and GT4 variants of the Audi R8 LMS and the RS3 LMS TCR car, after the first quarter of 2024. All orders placed until that point will be fulfilled by Audi.
