What is a wheel decal? ›

Wheel decals are basically stickers you can put on your wheels. They come in all types of designs and colors. Some wheel decals are weatherproof, while others aren't.

Use a Protection Tape

Some stores have it, you just gotta ask for it. The protection tape works as an added transparent layer of protection for your stickers to prevent the edges from lifting, and as a scratch-resistant surface.

The purpose of rim tape is to protect the bicycle wheel's inner tube from spoke holes, which will puncture the tube if exposed inside the rim. Faulty rim tape will cause recurring flats, so it's something to look at when diagnosing the cause of flat tires.

Tire stickers are not permanent. The glue on the sticker will eventually wear away with time, which is why it is recommended that you replace your tire stickers every few months.

Generally speaking, the steps to install a decal are clean the application surface, remove decal backing, apply application solution (if there is one), position decal in the desired location, press firmly and use a squeegee to get rid of air bubbles.

The main difference between vinyl decals and wall stickers is their durability. Decals are made of high-quality, durable vinyl that can last for years if properly applied. Stickers are made of a thinner, more flexible vinyl material that may not hold up well over time, depending on their surface.

Directions. Apply clear adhesive sealant over the sticker and press out any wrinkles or air bubbles. If you're using clear laminate sheets, cut the sheet to a size slightly larger than the sticker you're sealing. Peel the backing paper off the laminate sheets and apply the laminate over the sticker.

Go round the rim with the hair dryer to heat up the rim and the tape then once everything has warmed up a bit it should make it easier to push the tape down and help it stick properly. I also like to use a plastic tyre lever to run round the bead of the rim and make sure the tape has stuck everywhere.
