Last week at the store, I found a great sale price on quarts of whipping cream. Making homemade butter and flavored butters has been on my want to do list for several months. With the low price and a less busy schedule, I thought it was the perfect time to try to make butter.

I used my homemade butter for this easy garlic butter recipe, but I have also made it with store-bought butter. I recommend getting the highest quality grass fed butter that you can find because it really does make a difference in how this garlic butter recipe tastes.

I used this homemade easy garlic butter recipe to make garlic bread. I love the convenience of frozen garlic bread, but I don’t like the ingredient list. When I have extra time, I make extra bread, add this garlic butter, and then freeze it.

You can also spread this garlic butter on fresh bread and bake it for homemade garlic bread. It works really well on French bread or Texas toast. Just bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden.

There are many other ways to use this easy garlic butter recipe. I use it to saute chicken for savory recipes. I’ve also used it on top of a steak for a buttery, garlicy treat. This garlic butter tastes great on steamed veggies, especially asparagus.

EASY 3 INGREDIENT GARLIC BUTTER RECIPE NOTES

Some garlic butter recipes call for garlic powder or minced garlic. I think fresh pressed garlic from whole garlic cloves are better than powdered or minced garlic, but you can use any of these options. If you use minced garlic, use 4-5 teaspoons in place of the fresh garlic.

You need to start with softened butter for this recipe. I left mine on the counter covered for several hours to soften it. It you need to speed it up, put hot water in a glass or metal bowl to warm up the bowl then drain. Put the butter on a plate and put the warmed up bowl over the butter for 10 minutes to soften the butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter at room temperature
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp parsley
  • salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Place softened butter in a shallow bowl.

  • Add freshly pressed garlic and parsley.

  • Fold the parsley and garlic in the butter using a spoon, butter knife, or your hands. Mix well.

  • Store your garlic butter in an airtight container up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator or in the freezer. If you freeze it, make sure the container is airtight so it doesn’t take on the flavors of other things in your freezer.

Notes

If you want to make a large amount of this garlic butter recipe, mold it into a long tube and wrap in freezer paper. Put it in the freezer until firm and cut off slices. Then package the slices to freeze. Then you can take out a slice of the garlic butter to put in the fridge to thaw when you need it.

I have also frozen this garlic butter in an ice cube tray. When frozen, take the garlic butter out of the tray and put in an airtight container. Use one or two frozen cubes to saute or add to vegetables. This makes a great butter option for mashed potatoes as well.
