Much like its Battle Royale mode, not every weapon and item is built the same in Fortnite‘s PVE mode. With the metric ton of weapons in the Fortnite: Save the World, it can be difficult to know which ones you should keep your eye on.

The sheer variety of weapon categories and dozens of weapons in each one can make your head spin. I know mine did when I first started playing. Well, have no fear! In this article we are going to go over the best weapons and items in Fortnite: Save The World. Let’s get started!

Best Heroes and Builds in Fortnite: Save the World (2024)

Best Weapons & Items in Fortnite: Save the World

Before we get into the list I want to make it a bit clear why some weapons won’t be making the list. First and foremost, we’ll be excluding any mythic and founder weapons from this list for two reasons.

One, the mythic weapons are obviously going to be a step above most weapons in the game. Because of that, putting them on a best weapons list would be kind of redundant. Instead we’ll be focusing on the more normal weapons in the game.

Two, the founder’s weapons are no longer obtainable (unless something changes down the road). A little sad since they’re quite strong, but what can you do about it?

With that out of the way, we can start this list for real! We’ll start with reliable early game picks and work our way down to the number one weapon in Fornite: Save the World.

15/15

Siegebreaker

Starting off this list is the ever-reliable Siegebreaker. A fast-fire rate assault rifle, the Siegebreaker works best in medium to long range. It’s also fairly accurate while doing a decent amount of damage.

While this gun is not spectacular by any means, it’s excellent for beginners to Save The World. It’s easy to use and doesn’t rely on perks as much as other weapons. Use this weapon in the early game and you won’t be disappointed.

14/15

TigerJaw

Next on our list is the TigerJaw. This weapon is a fast-firing auto shotgun that can shred through Husks with ease. It has high damage and a decent magazine, putting out a respectable amount of DPS.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of a downside. This shotgun chews through ammo like nothing else. If you don’t care about crafting shells all the time, however, this gun might be for you.

Much like the Siegebreaker, this weapon isn’t particularly special in comparison to the rest of this list, but I do find it reliable. The TigerJaw is a nice general-use shotgun that can help you through some low-level missions.

13/15

Triple Tap

The first sniper making our list is the Triple Tap. A medium-bullet firing sniper, the Triple Tap fires in 3 round bursts – hence the name. This weapon is incredibly accurate, but much like the TigerJaw, it eats through ammo.

Because of its 3-round burst, this sniper deals high damage and can easily take down most early-game husks in a single burst. A good strategy is to build this weapon for crits and have at it. While not the best sniper in the game, I find the Triple Tap to be one of the most fun to use.

12/15

Pepper Sprayer

The Pepper Sprayer is an automatic SMG that uses light bullets. Since it’s a little unwieldy, this SMG is best shot in bursts if you’re even remotely going for accuracy. Unsurprisingly though, given its name, it’s best used when you can get in close and let loose.

While this weapon is not bad by any means, it’s far from being the best weapon in Fortnite: Save The World. In terms of SMGs, the Pepper Sprayer is at the top of the low-tier. Use it if you don’t have any better options or if you really don’t care about light ammo.

11/15

Wraith

The Wraith. Other than having a cool name, this rifle unfortunately doesn’t have much else. The Wraith has decent accuracy and is silenced, meaning it won’t alert Husk mobs nearby. However, it has lower damage than other rifles and a slow rate of fire.

While it may seem like this rifle has no good qualities, it’s not terrible. It’s a decent weapon but simply can’t stand up to the other options in the game. My recommendation: add some perks that play with the Wraith’s base crit stats and see how you like it. Despite not being the most meta weapon, I enjoy using the Wraith just for fun.

10/15

Bundlebuss

Finally, we come to the Bundlebuss. This is the first weapon on the list that truly feels like a step up from low-tier. The Bundlebuss is a high-damage rifle with a large magazine and slow rate of fire. First and foremost, it is a powerful weapon that can easily melt through high-health Husks and Mist Monsters. Against lower enemies, the Bundlebuss may seem like overkill.

However, the overkill nature of this weapon is incredibly helpful during events. When facing some of the strongest enemies Save The World can throw at you, you’ll want to have a Bundlebuss by your side. This is easily one of the best weapons in Fortnite: Save The World.

9/15

Surround Pound

The Surround Pound is another weapon that makes the list because of how useful it is during events. This blunt boombox weapon has the bonus perk of forcing any enemy it stuns or knocks back to dance for a short time.

Besides the hilarious visual of a bunch of Husks dancing when you whack them, it’s hard not to see how useful this weapon is, especially since any weapon with hard CC is useful. Apart from its amazing passive, the Surround Pound is also one of the hardest-hitting hardware weapons available. It can take out small groups of enemies and is just an overall fun weapon to use.

With that said, much like the Bundlebuss, what was once overkill becomes incredibly useful during events. While the hard CC offered by this weapon is great, simply destroying the Husk is a better alternative in normal play. But during events with high-health enemies, this weapon truly finds its place as a CC monster. Although this weapon doesn’t force Mist Monsters and Bosses to dance, controlling the general crowds is still hard to pass up.

8/15

Neon Sniper

Next on the list is one of the coolest-looking snipers in the game: the Neon Sniper. It may not be the best sniper in Fortnite: Save The World, but it’s pretty close. With a thermal scope, this weapon has incredible sight, as well as the ability to shoot through walls, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking for a weapon with a little more range.

The downside to this weapon is that it’s pretty expensive to make, which means it will be a bit harder to stockpile because you’ll be using a good amount of precious resources. My recommendation is to build a couple of these and place some of them in the hands of your defenders. With the AI’s near-perfect aim mixed with the ability to shoot through walls, you can’t go wrong.

7/15

Pain Train

Up next, we have the Pain Train. As the name suggests, this is a hard-hitting weapon. As a light-bullet weapon, this assault rifle is perfect for people who like to deal damage. While it may lack a high fire rate, the damage-per-bullet keeps the DPS of this gun up. This does come at the cost of accuracy, however.

For those who like the Siegebreaker, you’ll likely enjoy this weapon as well. They are very similar, but the Pain Train does a bit more damage in the long run. As a fan of both of these rifles, I find myself switching between them regularly. They both serve as a great mainstay and will treat you well in the early missions.

6/15

Spectral Blade

If you prefer melee combat instead of ranged, then you might want to check out the Spectral Blade. Almost like the melee version of the Siegebreaker, this sword is a really good starting melee weapon for when you finish the early game. It’s reliable and can easily tear through lower-level missions.

Despite being pretty good, this weapon does have a couple of downsides. The main one is its perk dependency. Unfortunately, this weapon needs good perks to reach its full potential. I would recommend adding damage perks, but experiment around and see what you can turn this thing into.

It’s a fun weapon, nevertheless. And like all weapons on this list, the Spectral Blade is good. There are simply other weapons that are a bit better with less work needed.

5/15

Obliterator

Here we have the Obliterator. Other than the Neon Sniper, the Obliterator is the best sniper in the game. Although pretty close, the Obliterator edges out the Neon Sniper by a bit. The two main reasons for this are the Obliterator’s superior damage and lower cost.

As I mentioned before, the Neon Sniper is expensive to make. If you want a nearly identical weapon for less cost, the Obliterator is the answer. And just like the Neon Sniper, this weapon is excellent in the hands of defenders. A little bonus is that this gun absolutely destroys any material you shoot. It’s almost like having a long-distance pickaxe.

4/15

Thrasher

If you’re looking for the best SMG in the game right now, you’d be hard-pressed to find one better than the Thrasher. Ignoring the founder’s weapons, the Thrasher has one of the highest damage outputs for an SMG on the market.

Not only that, this weapon has a lower rate of fire than most SMGs. What this means is that you’re dealing comparable damage while using fewer bullets, always a plus in my book. Furthermore, this weapon is accurate. Unlike other weapons in its tier, the Thrasher’s accuracy doesn’t really change. Load this weapon up with crit rating and crit damage, and you’re sure to have a good time.

3/15

Vacuum Tube Bow

If you want AOE damage, then look no further than the Vacuum Tube Bow. What makes this weapon so good is its incredibly useful passive. When hitting an enemy with this bow, it causes a chain lightning effect on other monsters, giving it even better AOE potential compared to other bows in the game.

This weapon can be used in a lot of different situations, but I love bringing the Vacuum to encampment missions. Clearing camps turns into an absolute cakewalk even without good perks. Depending on what you look for in a weapon, the Vacuum Bow is a strong contender for the best weapon in Fortnite: Save The World.

2/15

Xenon Bow

Similar to the Vacuum Bow, the Xenon Bow is excellent if you are looking for a strong AOE weapon. Both bows function similarly, but the Xenon Bow easily takes the crown. It has great DPS and, more importantly, can pierce through enemies.

The Xenon Bow is an excellent choice for a primary weapon. It is fun to use and, as mentioned before, an all-around incredible weapon. Mobs of enemies will fall with ease, even without hero perks. But if you do put it in the hands of the right hero, your crowd-clearing ability will skyrocket.

While other bows may excel in specific situations, the Xenon Bow is a perfect general-use bow. There is a reason why many people consider this weapon to be one of the best in Fortnite.

1/15

De-Atomizer

The number one spot in the long run goes to the De-Atomizer. This weapon is an absolute beast, packing a lot of damage in a single trigger pull, and can clear maps with ease. Compared to other launchers in the game, this weapon is useful in most situations and will definitely help you in a tight spot.

However, like most launchers in the game, this gun is expensive to make. But it is worth it. Pull out this weapon when you’re in a pinch and it will get you out of a tight spot. The De-Atomizer is easily the best weapon in Fortnite: Save The World.
